What Makes Them Different💭
Low calorie but not texture: Just because the calories are low in this healthy waffles recipe doesn’t mean they’re not deliciously rich and cannot be dressed up.
Quick prep: Only 6 ingredients and mixed in a blender means that the yogurt pancakes are insanely simple to whip up.
Ingredients and Substitutions

- Yogurt: The thicker the Greek yogurt, the better the texture will be in the low-calorie breakfast waffles. I use plain yogurt so that I can tweak the flavor of the recipe, but flavored yogurt can work as well. This is the case in my Greek yogurt overnight oats, too.
- Gluten-free: If you want to make the recipe gluten-free, you can easily use gluten-free baking flour in place of all-purpose flour. Know that the waffles may be a bit thicker though, as it absorbs more so add 1 tablespoon of extra yogurt.
- Mix ins: I use chocolate chips, but switch it up with cookie crumbles, candy, nuts, or fruit.

Flavors To Try
The eays to change the low calorie waffles are endless but here are a few of our favorites:
- Extracts and zest: Make them brighter with lemon zest or warmer with almond extract.
- Pumpkin spice: perfect for fall, add some pumpkin pie seasoning to the batter and top them with toasted pecans and cream cheese frosting.
How To Make the Low Calorie Waffle Recipe

Step 1: Place all the ingredients (except the mix-ins) into a blender or food processor.

Step 2: Blend until combined.

Step 3: Pour the batter evenly into a pre-greased and heated waffle iron. Add the mix-ins.
Step 4: Cook for 8-12 minutes, depending on your texture preference.
Note
If possible, let the waffle batter sit for 3-4 minutes before pouring it into the waffle iron. It will create fluffier waffles.
Helpful Hints
Pro tip: Let Them Cook
Resist opening the lid before 8 minutes, if you let the heat out it early they won’t crisp up as much.
- Place the eggs and yogurt into the blender first so that it processes smoothly.
- Don’t overblend the ingredients, it will create dense waffles!
- Preheating the waffle iron makes crispier waffles.
- Storing: Once cooked and cooled, store leftover waffles in the fridge between layers of parchment paper in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Or, you can freeze them between parchment paper in a plastic bag for up to 3 months. Let them thaw overnight in the fridge before you need them.
- Reheating: The waffles can be reheated in the toaster or the oven on a lower heat until warmed through.
How To Serve Them
Use these yogurt waffles as an easy morning meal or a larger brunch with your favorite additions. Below are a few ideas:
- Healthy toppings: Keep the calories in check by topping your waffles with banana slices, extra Greek yogurt, berries, or sugar-free syrup.
- Create a brunch spread: Serve them with salmon frittata with Gruyere cheese for a big spread with servings of fresh fruit.
- Drizzle or top them with homemade blueberry pancake sauce or my raspberry compote recipe.
