SUMMARIZE & SAVE THIS CONTENT ON

One of the reasons this easy air fryer baked brie appetizer works so well is how quickly the cheese turns warm and gooey without a lot of prep or cleanup. The orange cranberry topping adds just enough sweetness and brightness to balance the rich brie, making it feel perfect for holiday gatherings or last-minute entertaining, along with baked feta in the air fryer, of course.

Another thing I appreciate about this holiday baked brie with cranberries is how reliable it is when hosting. Keeping the rind on helps the cheese stay soft and creamy without completely spilling apart in the air fryer, and it’s ready fast enough that you can make it fresh right before serving. For larger holiday tables, I’ll often pair it with cozy recipes like this hot cocoa dip with marshmallow fluff, so there’s a mix of savory and sweet appetizers to snack on.

Items and Substitutions

A plate with fresh rosemary and an orange, a jar of jam, a wheel of cheese, chopped nuts, and breadcrumbs arranged on a white surface.
  • Brie: Choose a full wheel of brie rather than wedges or slices since it holds its shape better while melting.
  • Freshly squeezed orange juice: The riper the orange, the more the flavor will shine through. Zesting some citrus on top is delicious as well.
  • Light brown sugar: Light brown sugar gives a subtle sweet flavor, whereas a darker brown would caramelize more.

Flavors To Try

Below are a few fun ways you can adjust the taste of the cranberry orange baked brie appetizer depending on what you enjoy.

  • Switch the nuts: Use pecans, almonds, or pistachios instead of walnuts for a different crunch and flavor.
  • Try different fruit toppings: Replace cranberry sauce with homemade raspberry compote or even old fashioned blurberry pancake syrup.
  • Add a drizzle: Finish with a little honey or maple syrup for extra sweetness and shine.

How To Make Air Fryer Baked Brie

A dish with jam, melted butter, and brown sugar, a jar of jam, and a round of cheese on a plate are arranged on a white countertop.

Step 1: In a small bowl, combine cranberry sauce, light brown sugar, and orange juice.

Step 2: Create crisscross slices at the top of the brie, 1/2 inch deep.

Step 3: Top the brie with the cranberry orange mixture and walnuts, then air fry on a parchment-lined tray until warm and gooey with golden walnuts on top.

A hand dips a cracker into a cheese wheel topped with chopped nuts and dried fruit, garnished with rosemary, orange slices, whole walnuts, and more crackers on a white plate.

Step 4: Slowly transfer to a large round plate and serve with the remaining fresh rosemary, slices of fresh oranges, walnuts, and saltines.

Note

Score the top of the brie with a sharp knife before adding the topping—this allows the cheese to melt evenly and helps the cranberry-orange mixture soak into every bite.

Helpful Hints

Pro tip: Serve While Melty!

Serve the brie immediately after cooking. This is when it’s at its meltiest and most irresistible.

More Helpful Hints:

  • Line your air fryer basket with parchment paper for easier cleanup.
  • Don’t overcook, or the brie can burst and spill out too much.
  • Use a sharp knife to score the top so the flavors soak in better.
  • Let the brie rest for 1–2 minutes before serving so it’s easier to transfer.
  • Pair with sturdy dippers like toasted baguette slices to handle the gooey cheese.

How To Store Leftovers

If you have leftover gooey baked brie, let the baked brie cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container and storing it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

To reheat, place it back in the air fryer or oven at a low temperature (around 300°F/150°C) for a few minutes until warmed through and melty again. Avoid microwaving it, as it can make the cheese rubbery and unevenly heated.

Serving Suggestions

This air fryer baked brie is perfect for holiday entertaining because it pairs well with both sweet and savory snacks. Here’s a few ways we’ve enjoyed it:

  • Serve it with crackers, toasted baguette slices, pretzels, or crisp apple and pear slices for an easy appetizer board with lots of texture.
  • Add it to a holiday charcuterie spread with cured meats, nuts, olives, and fresh herbs for a simple centerpiece that looks impressive without much work.
  • Pair it with savory appetizers like air fryer pineapple chicken skewers to balance the sweet cranberry orange topping with something hearty and flavorful.
  • For cozy gatherings, serve the warm brie alongside cocktails, mocktails, or homemade hot chocolate with a chocolate bar so guests can scoop it up while it’s still perfectly gooey and melty.

Air Fryer Baked Brie FAQs

Pin

Yes, camembert is a great alternative since it has a similar creamy texture and mild flavor. Other cheeses won’t melt the same way, so brie or camembert works best.

You can assemble the brie with the topping a few hours in advance and keep it in the fridge until ready to cook. Just air fry right before serving so it stays warm and melty.

o help keep brie from bursting in the air fryer, use a full wheel of cold brie and avoid overcooking it. Keeping the rind on helps hold the cheese together while it softens, and letting it rest for a minute or two after cooking helps prevent the melted center from spilling out too quickly when serving.
